Germany has been issuing semi-postal charity stamps since 1949.
Fairy Tales by the Brothers Grimm are among such series of stamps. The following have been issued between 1959 and 1967.

- 1960 - Little Red Riding Hood
- 1961 - Hansel and Gretel
- 1962 - Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs
- 1963 - The Wolf and the Seven Young Goats
- 1964 - The Sleeping Beauty
- 1965 - Cinderella
- 1966 - The Frog Prince
- 1967 – Frau Holle
The stories by Grimm brothers weren't originally compiled for kids. It was more of an academic search for the cultural/linguistic underpinning of the nation-state leading up to German unification.
