A collection of 55 stamps on Shinning Stars of Indian National Movement were issued over few years. It was a project with an ambition of issuing 4-6 stamps each year until 1997, marking the 50th year of India’s Independence, to complete the story of the struggle through stamps.
The first 44 stamps were issued as part of a seven-stamp series between 1983 and 1989 to commemorate the struggle for freedom during India’s fight for independence. These stamps have a vertical tricolour strip on the left and right borders of the stamps.
The other 11 stamps that followed this series have the tricolour strip at the top-left corner of the stamp. These stamps were issued until 1994.
